Building artists and audiences for the future is a large part of the Ensemble Theatre mission. We invest in our community by helping students find their own voices while exploring the art form of theatre.
Our Prelude Program is as the name implies, a beginning. It is a start, a launch pad for ideas, a program about knowing that your destination in life is not your current address.
As ETC is located in Over-The-Rhine we are at the center of a changing and challenging city. We bring students throughout the year through our doors to see productions, watch productions in process both in the building and rehearsal stages and we go to their schools, thereby extending our presence in their lives.
Thousands of students per year are empowered by our out reach program. We are proud partners with the Adopt-A-School program, Uptown Arts, as well as individualized programs like our residency at the Schiel School.
Our unique mission allows us to address the relevant issues of the day for general audiences and educational programs alike. It creates diversity in programming and casting. It creates accessible programming that allows students to write their own story or hear a classic story told in a totally new way. Our many experiences and past educational partnerships prove our ability to provide these strong, effective programs.
The programs are directed and were developed by our Producing Artistic Director D. Lynn Meyers who has extensive experience in both theatre and education, Monica Wise our Director of Education (Prelude and Touring Company) is a certified teacher, and a professional actress. Her belief that art and education go hand in hand towards developing young minds and hearts is sincere. She uses her teaching skills to work in partnership with the teachers in the various school systems where we are involved.
